Description
Bill Monroe 100th Year Celebration: Live At Bean Blossom is a live album, offering traditional bluegrass as it sounds in front of a crowd. It reflects the high, lonesome singing and driving rhythm that define bluegrass at its best. The music draws on the mountain traditions of the Southern Appalachians, where so much bluegrass has its roots.
Bean Blossom, Indiana, is closely associated with Bill Monroe and his long-running festival there. A live recording keeps the spontaneity and audience response that a studio session cannot fully capture. The live recording is offered on CD. The arrangements leave room for each voice and instrument to be heard clearly. Acoustic music like this rewards repeated listening, with new details emerging each time.
